Hello, adventurers, and welcome to the Dragonflight Awakened Crest guide, where we will talk about the updates for the gear update system in Season 4.
For those of you who might be unfamiliar with this system, any of your gear obtained in the current season can be upgraded using Crests and Flightstones to increase its item level. The gist of it is that upgrading an item requires spending Flightstones and a certain number of crests. Each upgrade step costs 15 crests and a varying amount of Flightstones depending on the item's level and slot.
Today, we’re going to explain the Awakened Crests, which is a version of crests for Season 4. If that already sounds like a lot of farming, you’re right. But there’s a better solution to getting your gear upgraded in Season 4. All you need to do is Buy Awakened Crests Farm at SkyCoach, and our professional WoW players will farm any amount of these crests for you! That way, you won’t have to waste your time grinding content, and instead, you’ll have enough resources to upgrade any gear you have.

Dragonflight Gear Upgrade System Explained
We want to quickly recap what this gear upgrade system is actually about before we proceed to explain where to find Awakened Crests and all that jazz. To put it in simple terms, Awakened Crests is one of the currencies used for upgrading your gear. In previous seasons, these crests had different names – Dreaming, Shadowflame, etc. For season 4, they’re titled – “Awakened”.
Another thing that’s important is that there are different types of crests, each of which is rewarded to you for doing different endgame activities. There are actually only 5 kinds of these:
- Nascent Whelpling's Awakened Crest – this one provides the smallest update and can be obtained through some early-entry endgame open-world activities but is no longer available in Mythic+, unlike in previous seasons.
- Drake's Awakened Crest – the higher grade of crests obtained from raids on normal difficulty. 10 of these can be earned by completing a Mythic 0 dungeon with no timer.
- Nascent Wyrm's Awakened Crest – the next tier of crests that provides a greater upgrade and can only be earned through raids on Heroic difficulty or Mythic dungeons in levels +2 – +5.
- Nascent Aspect's Awakened Crest – To get this ultimate crest, you’ll need to challenge yourself with the most extreme raid and Mythic dungeon difficulties starting from 6+ and higher.
Nascent Aspect's Awakened Crest can be upgraded to a more powerful version called Enchanted Aspect's Awakened Crest. This will allow you to jump to an even higher ilvl than the original crest can do.
All of these can be used to increase your gear’s item level. Yes, you can look for where to farm Awakened Crests, but you really need to know what kind first. A type means that you can make these upgrades more substantial. The crests can be upgraded into the Enchanted variations. That way, they’ll offer a greater increase of ilvl:
- Enhanced Whelping – 473-486 ilvl.
- Enhanced Wyrm – 502-515 ilvl.
- Enhanced Apsect – 512-525 ilvl.
So, the name of the game here is farm Awakened Crests by playing Mythic+ and raids on the highest possible difficulty levels. If you’re not yet good at doing that, you can also try Mythic+ Carry and Raid Boosting services at SkyCoach. With these boosting services you can do any number of M+ dungeons and raids on any difficulty! This will literally cover you in mountains of loot and Awakened crests, so consider it! But there’s more to the system.
Introducing Awakened Crests Types
At this point, you might still be confused as to what the difference is between Whelping’s Crests and Aspect’s Crests. To make it all clear to you before we proceed to answer questions like how to get Awakened crests, different types of crests are used to upgrade different classes of gear. That’s right, you might have noticed that your gear belongs to one of these classes (some may call them tracks or use other names):
- Explorer
- Adventurer
- Veteran
- Champion
- Hero
- Myth
The Veteran track of gear starts with ilvl 480, which was Season 3’s Myth, and goes up to 502. It can be really difficult to memorize the available ilvl ranges for each class of gear, so we’ve made this handy table right here.
Upgrade Track | Number of Upgrades | ilvl Range | Required Awakened Crest | Awakened Crest ilvl Range |
Veteran | 8 | 480-502 | Whelp (1-4), Drake (5-8) | Whelp (480-489), Drake (493-502) |
Champ | 8 | 493–515 | Drake (1-4), Wyrm (5-8) | Drake (493-502), Wyrm (506-515) |
Hero | 6 | 506-522 | Wyrm (1-4), Aspect (5-6) | Wyrm (506-515), Aspect (519-522) |
Myth | 4 | 519-528 | Aspect (1-4) | Aspect (519-528) |
In here you can see the range of ilvl, the required Awakened Crests, and tiers of upgrades for each type of gear class from Veteran to Myth.
- Veteran – 8 upgrades (ilvl 480-502)
- Upgrades 1-4 require Whelp Awakened Crest (ilvl 480-489)
- Upgrades 5-8 require Drake Awakened Crest (ilvl 493-502)
- Champ – 8 upgrades (ilvl 493–515)
- Upgrades 1-4 require Drake Awakened Crest (ilvl 493-502)
- Upgrades 5-8 require Wyrm Awakened Crest (ilvl 506-515)
- Hero – 6 upgrades (ilvl 506-522)
- Upgrades 1-4 require Wyrm Awakned Crest (ilvl 506-515)
- Upgrades 5-6 require Aspect Awakened Crest (ilvl 519-522)
- Myth – 4 upgrades (ilvl 519-528)
- Upgrades 1-4 require Wyrm Awakned Crest
As you already know, getting these crests is going to be quite the challenge. Keep in mind that this gear upgrade system is part of the endgame progression. The good news is that you can actually upgrade each tier of Crests into a higher one. Also, there’s no Awakened crests farm quest; as long as you know where to get them, you’ll work out your routine for farming them.
How to Get Awakened Crests in Dragonflight Season 4
The way these Crests are obtained is changed in Season 4 compared to the previous season. Not only that, but the ilvl loot has seen a slight shift in terms of what difficulty it comes from. Luckily, we’ve prepared a handy table that will show you how to earn Awakened Crests and what ilvl of gear drops from which difficulty level of activity. The first activity that we will start with will be Mythic+ dungeons.
Difficulty (Key) | Loot | Vault | Drops |
H | 476 | 489 | - |
0 | 493 | 506 | Drake |
2 | 496 | 509 | Wyrm |
3 | 499 | 509 | |
4 | 499 | 512 | |
5 | 502 | 512 | |
6 | 502 | 515 | Aspect |
7 | 506 | 515 | |
8 | 506 | 519 | |
9 | 509 | 519 | |
10+ | 509 | 522 |
Here, we show what ilvl of loot drops from each key in M+ and what ilvl of loot you’ll get in the Weekly Vault for doing those keys. Plus, the table also shows where to do your Awakened Crest farm for every type. But we’re not done yet! We also have our raids!
Vault | Aberrus | Amirdrassil | LFR | Normal | Heroic | Mythic |
1, 2, 3, 4 | 1, 2, 3 | 1, 2 | 480 | 493 | 506 | 519 |
- | 4, 5 | 3, 4 | 483 | 496 | 509 | 522 |
5, 6, 1r, 3r | 6, 7, 1r | 5, 6, 7 | 486 | 499 | 512 | 525 |
7, 8 | 8, 9, 5r | 8, 9, 3r, 6r | 489 | 502 | 515 | 528 |
8r | 8r, 9r | 9r | 496 | 509 | 522 | 535 |
Crest Drops | Whelpling | Drake | Wyrm | Aspect |
In this table you can see rewards for each of the raid’s bosses. These number under the names of the raids and the Vault, represent specific boss. The “r” next to a number means that the item is rare. At the bottom, you can see what type of Awakened Crests drop from what difficulty level starting from “Looking for Raid” to Mythic.
As for how many of these crests you can get each week, in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season 4, you can gather up to 150 pieces of each type of Awakened Crest per week. These crests include Whelpling’s, Drake’s, Wyrm’s, and Aspect’s Awakened Crests. Since you now know how to farm Awakened crests, you can do as much as you want and never exceed the limit.
Fortunately, you can stockpile Awakened Crests in your bag without worrying about space constraints. Whether you’re amassing, Whelpling’s, Drake’s, Wyrm’s, or Aspect’s Awakened Crests, the game’s bag system accommodates your storage needs. This stockpile proves invaluable when aiming to boost your gear’s item level or craft potent new PvP or PvE equipment. Such preparedness becomes particularly vital when strategizing for challenging raid encounters or gearing up for the weekly events in WoW Dragonflight. So, pile them high and elevate those item levels!
Conclusion
Awakened Crests is part of the endgame gear upgrade system. It is designed to give players who already reached endgame ways to improve their equipment, by increasing its ilvl using a special currency.
This currency can be obtained from Mythic+ dungeons and raids and has a weekly cap of 150. The endgame gear is separated into six tiers, starting from Adventurer to Myth. Each of these tiers can be upgraded several times using different types of Awakened Crests. In this guide we’ve provided complete information about what upgrades are needed and how much you can increase your ilvl. We’ve also covered where you can get loot with specific ilvl and at what difficulties you can get different types of crests.
This system should keep you entertained until the next big update in World of Warcraft, which will be its next major expansion. Thanks for reading, and see you next time!
